As this winter progresses it is looking as though we are going to be getting more and more snow. It is important that we keep the sidewalks open to pedestrians. When property owners fail to do this, customers, schoolchildren and other pedestrians are forced to walk on either snow-packed, icy sidewalks, or out in the street itself. Either scenario can lead to serious injury. The Town Code requires owners with sidewalks to clear those sidewalks within 24 hours of each storm ending. This includes all residential and commercial properties. If you are along the highway it is even more important to keep up with your sidewalks, even after the CDOT plows run. When shoveling please keep the excess snow on your property. It is not only against the Code, but it is unsafe to pile snow up against fire hydrants, traffic lights, stop signs, and so on. Be a good neighbor, help out your neighbors and keep Buena Vista a thriving, safe community.
As always if you have any questions regarding this issue or any questions regarding our Code please reach out to Code Enforcement (719-581-1024).
