Phase 1 Application for Medical and Retail Marijuana Store Licenses
In the November 3, 2020 Election, voters approved Ballot Question 2A allowing retail marijuana stores. On November 24, 2020, the Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance 16, Series 2020 (PDF), limiting marijuana businesses to a total of two locations on the Town and permitting each location to serve as either a medical marijuana store, a retail marijuana store, or a dual operation.
The Town of Buena Vista will accept Phase 1 applications for sixty (60) days to determine whether an applicant meets the criteria to be entered into the random selection process for the one available marijuana store license.
The Phase 1 application submission period has ended.

During Phase 1 and Phase 2 applications, no person or entity may apply on behalf of another person or entity. The applicant for a license must be the true applicant and may not be a shell or strawman for a third party. The selected applicant may not transfer an application to a third party at any time during the Phase 1 and Phase 2 review process.
The intent of the Phase 1 application process is to provide fair opportunity for qualified and eligible persons and entities to be selected for a Phase 2 review to obtain a license in the Town of Buena Vista. Multiple applications by the same person or entity, or applications by multiple entities with substantially the same ownership will be rejected. For purposes of this policy “substantially the same ownership” shall mean more than 50% ownership in common.
