Planning & Zoning

All land use applications are handled through the Town's Development Office, under the direction of the Town Planner.

Buena Vista now has a Development Permit. If Chaffee County requires a Building Permit you will need to complete their permit as well. the fee for the Buena Vista Development permit is 10% of the Chaffee County Fee. If no Chaffee County Permit is required there will be no fee for the Buena Vista Permit. (However it will still need to be completed and approved.)

Vendor Cart Permit Application  The fee for the Vendor Cart Permits are as follows:

              One Day                                            $ 10.00 (plus costs)
              Weekly (up to 7 days)                         $ 25.00 (plus costs)
              Monthly                                             $ 50.00 (plus costs)
              Seasonal (up to 6 months)                  $150.00 (plus costs)

Please note that these fees do not include the Business License fee of $20.00 or the Sign Permit fees.

What exactly is "plus costs?"  Any fees incurred by the town are passed on to the applicant. Such things would include the Town Engineer and Town Planner reviews, and any other Professional Services deemed necessary.


Businesses that wish to permit their signs in accordance with the current sign code will need to do so before November 1, 2009. All signs in the Town of Buena Vista are required to have a permit. Sign Permit applications received by 5:00 p.m. on October 30, 2009 will be processed in accordance with the existing Sign Code.
