The Town of Buena Vista and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) invite you to a meeting with Tom and Laurie Simmons of Front Range Associates on Thursday, May 28 at 6 pm. This meeting is an opportunity to learn more about architectural and historical surveys that they have begun conducting on approximately 30 historic properties located north and south of East Main Street. Due to public health concerns, the meeting will be held remotely. To join the meeting by computer: meet.google.com/gig-dngx-xae. To join by phone: +1 516-399-7133 PIN: 354 809 428#
The surveys are non-intrusive and involve researching the history of a property (including date property was built, history of owners, architectural style, and materials used). While surveys are simply informational and do not necessarily indicate that a property is eligible for historic designation, they can reveal eligibility for local, state or national historic registries as well as tax credits and grants. (Those interested in learning more before the meeting are encouraged to visit www.historycolorado.org/grants-financial-incentives.)
During the May 28 meeting, Front Range Associates will explain the purpose of the project, present the work they’ve performed to date, and encourage property owners and residents to provide information on the background of the properties to be surveyed, such as historic photos, abstracts of title, recollections of owners, and so forth. We will also invite open discussion.
