The Town is implementing a fee to address stormwater management throughout the community called the Stormwater Utility Fund. The new section of the code is in Chapter 13, Article XI, titled: Stormwater Utility Fund. The Fund was established by Ordinance 1, Series 2017 on January 10 and became effective on February 11. The fee will be applied to your water bill starting with the bill for March water usage (the bill sent out at the end of March). The purpose of the fee is to construct and improve infrastructure to mitigate flooding, to address drainage on roads and rights-of-way, and to deal with erosion as a result of runoff. The fee will also help address environmental concerns related to the management of stormwater.
On the Town website there are copies of the west and east side drainage studies that make recommendations regarding where culverts should be over-sized or built, where bridge and dam repairs should be made, and where other drainage features are needed to protect both private and public properties. Follow the link below if you would like to view these studies.
This fee applies only to properties located within the Town limits. The fee is $3 for in-town residential and $6 for in-town commercial accounts.
